A little bit about today’s celebration… The Church celebrates The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus every year, but it is what they call a movable Feast as it always occurs on the Friday AFTER the Feast of Corpus Christi, which is a Feast that always falls on the Second Sunday after Pentecost, which is always 50 Days after, and inclusive of, Easter Sunday, which is always celebrated on the First Sunday following the first full moon on or after the Spring’s Vernal Equinox. This year, our US Bishops decided that an appropriate observance of the 250th Birthday of the United States should include special prayers for our country, so they’ve asked the we, the Church, through its prayer, Consecrate our land and its people to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which was done in a Solemn Celebration this past Thursday, in anticipation of Friday’s Feast of the Sacred Heart!
